Bodkin ArrowheadThousands of our fans have asked the question: "Bodkin Creek ???? Whazzup wi'dat?"

Well, the simple answer is that Bodkin Creek is an inlet in Anne Arundel County near Gibson Island, Maryland along the Chesapeake Bay, just north of Annapolis. It was the site of explorations by Captain John Smith in 1608 and several battles during the war of 1812. It is not far from where the band had its origins in the deep, dark depths of Norm's basement, circa 2004.

The original band organized in 2004. Lou, Merv, Jim and Norm welcomed Herb aboard to play drums in December 2007, and the band began playing in public again in early 2008. "Poppa Hank" was the band's first and only sax player -- moving to keys -- from 2009-2011. Rob sang with the band from 2010 through 2019, adding his outstanding vocals and harmonizing abilities. Jimmy drove the bass line from Fall 2011 until February 2017 while Merv became the regular keyboard player. Jimmy had to move on but he occasionally helps out the band when a sub is needed. Merv is comfortably back on bass. Larry played piano from 2017 through 2019.

Brenda has been singing with the band since Fall 2014 when pitch-perfect Katie departed. Brenda's vocals give the band a greatly expanded repertoire ... adding songs by The Pretenders, Adele, Linda Ronstadt, Tracy Nelson, Fleetwood Mac, Bonnie Raitt, Susan Tedeschi, Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane and others. Lou (first-and-only lead vocals from the beginning ... and continuing for the first few years) had his day job take him Out West in 2013.

Mark helped out and played with the band in 2019-2021 when not everyone could make a gig. Going into 2022, he is onboard with guitar and vocals.

Along with other "Friends of the Band" sitting-in over the years, Bodkin Creek is truly a band of interchangeable parts!

Yeah, but what say you is a "bodkin"?

(Courtesy Wikipedia):   ''A bodkin point is a type of arrowhead. In its simplest form it is a squared metal spike, and was used extensively during the Middle Ages. The name comes from the Old English word bodkin or bodekin, a type of sharp, pointed dagger. They were as long as a man's middle finger.''

Now before this discussion digresses and turns to a discussion about middle fingers, we'll just leave it at that.

One thing is for certain:  With a name like "Bodkin Creek", you had better be good!
